Frequently Asked Questions
First, does the whole event (time trial) have a total length of 7.2 kms, or is that just the length of the Zig Zag?
This is the total length from the start at the bottom of the Zig-Zag to Kalamunda town centre.
Is the team event a longer distance as there are four team members?
The teams race the same course as the individuals- the first three of the four team members across the line count as the teams time. The team rides as per a team time trial a la Tour De France. It is not a relay.
Also, who is classified to compete in the elite category? I am guessing it is for serious professional riders, and the open category is for amateurs?
That’s correct.
Do you advise amateur riders to enter the open category?
Yes, unless they want to mix it with the gun riders.
How are entries going?
Only just opened registrations on Monday 4th April, so will update by email. With only 50 team spots and 150 individual spots available, we expect to fill them quite quickly!
Your site boasts the biggest prize money – where are the details???
Winners in each elite category will win $1000, with $500 for second and $250 for third place, plus medallions. Winners and place-getters in open events will receive medallions and names will go on a perpetual trophy to be housed in the new multi-million dollar Zig Zag Cultural Centre in Kalamunda.
