Welcome to Historic Chalet Rigi, a Perth Hills Icon, making a come back.
Chalet Rigi is a stunning property located in the beautiful Perth Hills, surrounded by state forest and overlooking Piesse Brook Valley, with walk and cycle trails on its doorstep.
Chalet Rigi is an iconic Perth Restaurant with a colourful history. In 1946 the site was home to Robbies Tea Rooms, owned by Mr and Mrs Syd Robinson.
Robbies Tea Rooms closed mid-1960 and was purchased by the Petrig family from Switzerland. In the late 1960s the tea rooms burnt down and the Petrig family rebuilt as a Swiss/ German style restaurant, named Chalet Rigi. It became renowned for its excellent service and delicious food, and many Perth families celebrated weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and important milestones at the restaurant until the late 1990s, when it closed its doors.
It lay empty for seven years until neighbour, Mack McCormack bought the property in 2005, 16 years ago.
Mack has extended the venue and undertaken extensive renovations, including the addition of a grand balcony overlooking the valley, a fully renovated kitchen, pizza oven and spit roast. he has restored the original restaurant and added a new bar and large function space.
Mack has been working towards reopening Chalet Rigi for 16 years. On 2 June he was granted further approval to reopen the restaurant with a capacity of 350 persons, subject to meeting an extensive list of planning conditions, some of which will be very costly and time consuming to put in place, many of which have not been required of other developments in the area.
The Chalet Rigi team is committed to bringing this magnificent venue back to life and will be working hard to do so.
