Here are the results of the 2023 Business Survey. The prior year results are below.

The 2023 results are in stark contrast to 2022. We had a 190% increase in survey participants this year and there a number of notable trends:
  • Covid is no longer seen as a threat to business
  • Although there is a reasonable expected uptick in sales this is not reflected in bottom line expectations with rising costs eroding any increase in profits
  • Concerns were at an elevated level relating to finding and retaining suitable staff and adequacy of premises. For the first time, parking was noted as an area of concern.
  • Burn out and the perceived increase in red tape are also strong demotivators with a number of respondents considering closing their businesses down.
